Chinese Medicine for Emotions and Internal Organ Health
Sunday, August 17, 2025 at 2pm Saratoga Library
Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 2pm Sunnyvale Library
How do emotions such as anger, worry, fear, and grief directly impact our bodies?
Thousands of years ago, the intricate system of Chinese medicine clearly mapped out the connections between different human emotions and their connections to the internal organs of the body. Today, many of the modern diseases of internal medicine are at least in part related to these different emotions' long-term effect on the physical body. We'll discuss examples such as lung cancer's deep connection with excessive grief, hypertension's relationship with congestion of anger and fear, and worry and overthinking affecting the stomach health and functionality.
The Eastern and Western views of the body and mind are starting to converge in our times, and we will discuss bestselling books such as Bessel van der Kolk MD's "The Body Keeps the Score" and various other resources highlighting these important insights regarding our health and wellness.
